Self-Portraite

Me.

This has been me for the last couple of months.  I am unhappy with the weight I have re-gained.   I know Weight Watchers works.  I  know how good I felt about myself when I was at goal weight and challenging myself to run a little farther and a little faster.  I know how to fix what's broken within me, but I just haven't been able to take that first step to getting back on track.

Why am I stuck?

Honestly?

It's easier to stay stuck than to get going.

There's a heaping dose of honesty.

...

In addition to being lazy, I have another excuse.  I know excuses are worthless, but my other excuse is  Daylight Savings Time.  I mean has Daylight Savings Time sabotaged anyone else's life?  We were walking every night after work.  E-V-E-R-Y night.  We always did at least 2 miles, but sometimes we really got into the conversation, or found a neighborhood full of fantastic houses, and well, the 2 miles turned in to 5.

We were in a groove and we looked forward to the walks.  The walk was dual purposed: mental and physical therapy!  And then, Daylight Savings Time happened.  It is pitch dark by the time we get off work.  When I get home, my brain thinks that it is at least 8 o-clock.  It doesn't want to cook supper because it is so late.  I  don't want to walk on the treadmill because it is so late.  All I really want to do is take a hot bath and put on my jammies.  Yes, Daylight Savings time (+ laziness) has led to my downward spiral.

I know... Save the drama for my mama.

So, without further adieu, This weekend is it.  I commit.

I commit to:
  • Packing breakfast in the morning
  • Packing lunch
  • Exercising at least 30 minutes everyday (& gradually increasing to 60 min.)
  • Drinking at least a liter of water a day.
  • Minimizing soda intake (like to 1 a day)

Wish me luck!

Cures

We are always on the lookout for new noms and ideas. So when I was in the checkout line the other day, the new issue of Shape caught my eye. It had Mariska Hargitay on the cover.

You know, Olivia Benson on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. It had a caption, "How I Cured My Crazy Sugar Cravings." I had to get it.

So I flipped to page 76 and eagerly read. What words of wisdom would she have for me? Would this cure my "crazy sugar craving." I read, and read, and never really identified what cured her. I handed it to my co-worker/ co-blogger/ bff and she read it. While we were both envious of Mariska's swim with the dolphins in Hawaii, neither of us found the word "cure" in the actual article. We are very literal kittens. We wanted it to spell out just exactly how one does "cure... crazy sugar cravings." The only thing we found that could be construed as her "cure" was the Clean Program. She claims that the book Clean, by Alejandro Junger, changed her life.

Have you heard of the Clean Program? We've heard of clean eating of course, but the Clean Program? Let me just say, if I adhered to the Clean Program, it would change my life too!

*DISCLAIMER*  If your following it, kudos to you. You are likely healthier than me and your skin probably glows, just like Mariska says her does.  And while I think eating cleaner is an excellent idea, the Clean Program just goes too far for me.

Seriously, have you read the book or about the diet? We had not, but Go-Go Google, we did a little research. This article shows a daily/weekly menu. I knew by the 10 a.m. entry, the Clean Program was not for me. There are certain things I kind of omitted from my diet while I was on WW (Fritos & PopTarts come right to my mind). But the Clean Program's list of banned foods, is staggering.  I read this review (Starry1) of the book on Amazon and wasn't really sure what was left. Seriously.

So while I love Mariska and I appreciate the fundamental idea of clean eating, this kitteh will keep looking... the Clean Program is not the answer for me. I know that there are no "cures" or magical potions that will makes eating healthy simple, easy, or normal for me.  I know only I can make this change happen.  But a kitteh can dream and keep looking for tips on how to make it  more simple, easier and natural!   I'm hoping that the new WW program will be a great source of inspiration!

1st Official Post of the Not So Itteh Bitteh Kittehs' Committeh

If you read our profile, you know we are Weight Watcher's Lifers who have slipped.   It didn't happen overnight.  It slowly crept up on us.  One pound here, one pound there.... and now, well, there is that old familiar self-loathing because our jeans are causing a....

*Cringe*

So what are kittehs to do?  Get back on plan of course.  We know Weight Watchers works.  When we did WW we did 110%.  I mean we were poster children for WW.  We were the success story.  But, once we hit goal and maintained for about 6 months, we became slackers.

Well, actually we became slackers, with chips.....

So when we read the article on CNN about  new Weight Watcher's Plan, we started feeling a little motivated.  When we found out it kicks off in the US on November 29th, we were even more motivated. I mean come on, finally WW will not penalize fruits!  At goal we had very few points.   A 2 Pt. banana became a luxury we could not afford.  A banana should not be considered a luxury.  Cheezypoofs, Oreos, and M&Ms,  now those are luxuries!

When we  started WW in 2008, we started a blog.  When we started slacking on the diet, we started slacking on the blogging as well.

But, with the changing of the leaves, we are feeling a change in the air as well.

We are recommitting to WW, to a blog and to the Anti-Muffin Top Movement.
We hope you will join us!

We really do research things.

We take weight loss and healthy living seriously.

And we are honest in our journey.
 But you should know,
we do try to have fun along the way too!
